Pick a time that works for you. We’ll discuss your situation, the borough Surrogate’s Court that applies, and the next practical steps — whether that’s a will and trust, an incapacity plan, or a probate filing.
Service area
We handle estate planning and probate matters across NYC’s five boroughs and their courts:
- Manhattan — New York County Surrogate’s Court (31 Chambers Street)
- Brooklyn — Kings County Surrogate’s Court (2 Johnson Street)
- Queens — Queens County Surrogate’s Court
- The Bronx — Bronx County Surrogate’s Court
- Staten Island — Richmond County Surrogate’s Court
Which court applies depends on the decedent’s borough of domicile under SCPA 205-206. See the Surrogate’s Court guide.
What to expect from the consultation
The first call is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll ask about your assets — especially how you hold your home (co-op shares, condo, or house), since that drives the plan — your family situation, and your goals. For probate, we’ll ask about the will, the decedent’s domicile, and the assets involved. You’ll leave knowing the realistic process, timeline, and whether you need formal representation.
What to bring (or have handy)
For estate planning:
- A rough list of assets and how each is titled (co-op, condo, accounts, life insurance)
- Names of intended beneficiaries and the people you’d name as executor, agent, and health care proxy
- Any existing will, trust, or power of attorney
For probate:
- The original will, if there is one
- The death certificate
- A list of the decedent’s assets and the borough where they lived

Hours and response
Consultations are scheduled through Calendly, so you book directly into available times. For probate matters with court deadlines, note your timing in the booking so we can prioritize appropriately.
Getting to the Surrogate’s Courts
Each borough’s Surrogate’s Court is centrally located — Manhattan’s at 31 Chambers Street near City Hall, Brooklyn’s at 2 Johnson Street near Cadman Plaza and Borough Hall. Most filings are now handled electronically through NYSCEF, so in-person trips are less frequent than they once were. We’ll tell you when an appearance is actually needed.
